I feel I forgot something / I think you remember too much is the first individual show of Alicja Bielawska, hereunto presented mainly in Holland. The installation has been prepared especially for the Czarna Gallery. The main source of inspiration for Bielawska is the material side of everyday reality, the spatial relations holding between us and objects of everyday use encoded in our memory. The installation presented at Czarna is woven between the day-to-day experience and the reminiscence of it memorized in our heads. Pieces of furniture, window sills, floorings and other architectural elements lose their previous lives and gain another, based on autonomous associations.
Alicja Bielawska was born in 1980, lives and works in Amsterdam. She graduated from the city’s Rietveld Academie, participated in the European Exchange Academy, Beelitz (Germany) and in the exchange program B.A. in Fine Arts, Central St. Martins, London (U.K). She creates spatial installations and draws.
The catalogue of the exhibition was prepared in co-operation with the Atelier Foundation, to which we are indebted for its kind support
